The Gascony Experience - Cooking School for Boys
INTRODUCTION
Aimed predominantly at 40+ yr old males who enjoy eating, drinking and cooking. The standards will range from beginners to inspired amateurs and for many this will be their first such course.
Guests can book individually or take the whole week as a private house party. Initially accommodation will only be available for 6 guests. (9 if 6 don't mind sharing a twin room)
In 2010 this will extend to 9 guests (or 12 if 3 don't mind sharing)
The tutored course is based in Gascony, home of Armagnac, Foie Gras, Duck and excellent Regional Wines.
Accommodation is in a 7 bedroom Maison de Maitre, recently extensively renovated and refurbished to provide every comfort. The gardens are well laid out with a parterre, roses and box hedging and the views are dramatic. SEE www.mayres.info
Located in a rural setting in the triangle Agen, Condom, Lectoure, Mayres is 75 minutes from Toulouse Airport, 90 minutes from Bordeaux 90 minutes from Bergerac and 120 minutes from Pau. Easy jet, Ryan Air, BMI/ Baby, Flybe and British Airways provide regular flights from Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton, Stansted, Southampton, Bristol and Birmingham.
Drivers can be booked to collect and deliver, but it is recommended that guests book their own hire car. Besides the obvious; Hertz, Avis, National and Europcar, Auto Europe is worth checking out as they tend to be 20% cheaper.
The course runs for 5 days (6 nights) Thursday 19.00 to Wednesday 10.30.
